Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about NaijaVerify.

For Property Buyers

What is a NaijaVerify verification certificate?

It is a tamper-proof digital certificate confirming that a licensed professional conducted a verification at a government registry on your behalf. It has a public URL anyone can check independently.

Is NaijaVerify a law firm?

No. NaijaVerify is a verification platform. We coordinate licensed legal professionals to conduct searches at government registries and issue independently verifiable certificates. We do not provide legal advice.

Does NaijaVerify guarantee ownership?

No. We verify process integrity, not ownership. Our certificate confirms what was found at the registry — it does not constitute a legal guarantee of title. Always consult a solicitor for legal advice on property transactions.

What documents do I need to submit?

You can start with just a property address. If you have documents like a survey plan, deed of assignment, or C of O, uploading them helps our team work faster. Documents are optional at submission.

How long does verification take?

Turnaround varies by service: Title Search 5–10 working days, Charting 7–14 days, Probate Check 7–14 days, CTC Retrieval 10–15 days, Deed Registration Status 5–10 days. Government office schedules can affect timing.

What states do you cover?

Lagos State, Ogun State, and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja). We are expanding to additional states.

Can I trust the certificate in court?

The certificate documents what was found at the registry with a full audit trail. It is designed to be admissible as evidence of due diligence. Consult your solicitor on admissibility in your specific matter.

What is the blockchain anchor?

When your certificate is issued, a cryptographic hash is recorded on an immutable ledger. This means the certificate cannot be altered after issuance without the tampering being detectable.

For Diaspora Buyers

Can I submit a request from abroad?

Yes. NaijaVerify is designed for diaspora Nigerians. Submit from anywhere in the world. Our licensed partners in Nigeria do the physical work.

How do I pay from abroad?

We accept payments through Paystack, which supports Naira payments from international cards. Your invoice will show the amount in Naira.

Will my UK or US bank accept a NaijaVerify certificate?

The certificate has a public verification URL that any institution can check. We are working with banks and mortgage providers to establish formal acceptance channels.

What if the property fails verification?

That is valuable information. We charge for the process, not the outcome. If the verification reveals problems, you can make an informed decision before committing money.

On Fees

What is a government registry fee?

This is the fee charged by the state government for conducting a search or retrieval at their registry. We collect it on your behalf and pay it directly to the registry. We never mark it up.

Why are government fees separate?

Transparency. You should always know exactly what goes to the government and what comes to NaijaVerify. We believe bundling fees obscures what you are paying for.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment is processed through Paystack. You can pay with debit cards, bank transfers, and other methods supported by Paystack.

What if I need a refund?

If no field work has begun, you are entitled to a full refund. After field work begins, refunds are available only in cases of NaijaVerify error. See our Refund Policy for full details.
